A lot of writers have often complained in the past about not being given a voice, and not being able to experience the act of expressing themselves freely, and then getting paid for it as well. Thanks to technology, however, and the phenomenon of Web 2.0, people are better able to express themselves and put up their own soapboxes in order to talk about what they think and feel. One particular phenomenon, blogging, involves putting one's thoughts and feelings into an online diary, to which people can have as much access as the writer will allow. Since its inception, blogging has branched out into the business and economics arena, where businesses use the blogging system of content management to put their information together for interested clients and buyers, as well as to keep their target market updated on their current offerings.
Blogging is a great way, moreover, for writers to earn money. However, not all writers are well informed as to how they can make money through their blogging efforts. One way is to actually blog for a living, where you can create blog entries based on a certain topic.
There are many websites out on the Internet that offer such services, where they hire bloggers to blog about topics and pay them per article. Such articles will often be over a hundred words long, sometimes two hundred, and rarely seven hundred, depending on the topic, target audience, and intent.
Another way to make money through blogging is through monetizing a blog. This can be done through placing ads on the blog. One way to place ads is to enroll in an affiliate marketing program, or through a pay per click program.
Each time a visitor to the blog clicks an advertisement, the blogger gets commissions. The ads, moreover, are tailored to blog content. The advertising company sends out software to track what keywords are on the site, and these keywords are used to select the appropriate ads to place on the site. This means that the target audience gets ads that are well-tuned to their tastes, wants, and needs, making the advertising less annoying and more helpful for people visiting the blog.
Blogging, however, is not an easy process. True, there are a lot of writers who are able to write a hundred words a minute, and there are many writers who never run out of idea.
But there are already millions of blogs out in the blogosphere, and it can be difficult to make it to the top of the blogs. You as a writer may need to have something unique to offer, something more than what the other blogs have. Of course, with a million blogs, this can be even more difficult: you may have thousands of things to say, but thousands of other writers have said it in their own way.
However, you should not let this deter you. Find ways to get the word out on your blog. You might look at posting on different forums that have the same topic as your blog, and leave your blog address in your post signature. You may also get a free redirecting address to make your blog easier to remember; if you have the budget, you might look for a dot com address and pay for it. Link to other blogs, and have them link to you as well. If you are able to blog uniquely and get the word out on your writing, you can certainly make money from your blogging venture.
